This nice wide shot attracts my eye to peer into the distance to discover all the fine detail on the far shores. Very nice silvery light and atmosphere here. Tonal balance is excellent again. It's very hard to deal with direct sun breaking through. A technique I sometimes use is to under expose when converting from RAW then lift the darker areas with shadows / highlights in PS. I also use the burn tool with appropriate brush size to brush over the 'plasma' high light to reduce it a bit. Using the clone tool in combination with burn / dodge on such extreme areas can work too. It's a bit like painting a picture I suppose.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Gavin. new LR does quite good job with the Grad Filter and a Partial Adjustment feature. It makes less trip to PS.
