Olympus OM-D EM-5II
Tamron SP MF 500mm F8 Reflex (55B)

F8, 1/8000, ISO-100

WB is shade.

Took it in -1EV at the time to preserve highlight but ended up bring it back about 1EV.

Cropped to 2:3 format and some contrast adjustment done.

It's just about going down and completely behind the mountain range.  I was trying to capture clean edge of sun as well as intense colour around it.

Super Moon 2012

Nelson, New Zealand

Panasonic Lumix GX1

Tamron SP MF 500mm F8 Reflex (55B)
Tamron SP AF 2X Teleconverter (300F)
F16, 1/50, ISO-160

Taken on 6/May/2012

A 500mm mirror lens + 2x converter on m43 camera.  It is 2000mm equivalent for 35mm full format.  No crop, straight out of camera (via LR4) with little contract enhance.  It is a colour image.

Note to myself: It could be better using high ISO setting of the GX1 and allow to use fast shutter. I'm still not getting used to this camera as I was almost always set to base ISO with D200 on tripod.  The GX1 is more capable of high ISO than D200.

Up Close - 抜殻

Nelson, New Zealand

Panasonic Lumix GX1
Tamron SP MF 500mm F8 Reflex (55B)
F8, 1/125, ISO-160

I found this cicada shell in garden.  Instead of using macro lens, I grabbed this mirror lens.  it was surprisingly well balanced.    I used tripod because it was bit windy for this kind of shot to do with handhold especially with 1000mm/F8 equivalent to 35mm full flame.

GX1 + $20 mount adapter + Tamron SP 500mm (reflex)
[PS: 8/Feb]: Oh and forgot to say that I was shooting about 2m (or less) away from the subject.

Snap away with hand-held. The optics of 2x extension tube was removed and use as a macro extension tube. This is not particularly a macro shot but aimed a small Japanese maple leaf about 2+ mater away to see how DOF is looks like.

Purple - 青紫

Nelson, New Zealand

Nikon D200
Tamron SP MF 500mm F8 Reflex (55B) + Tamron SP 2X Teleconverter (01F)
F16, 1/90, ISO-400
On the tripod of course.

This lens and the teleconverter combination gives me a maximum of 1:1.5 macro capability. The lens itself can do 1:3 at 1.7m from the subject. It has quite good working distance and often I do not need a flash, which is very good.

This is a hydrangea with pale purplish blue colour.
A colour tone was manipulated using the split tone tool with LR to make this effect.
