For someone who's never travelled to New Zealand your shots provide a very interesting travelogue. You never get buildings like this over here and I enjoy the often subtle differences in the scenes you portray to our own towns and country.
Tena koe ehoa I remember how the stucco exteriors took off in the late 70's and the building industry in NZ was beset with that type of exterior surface being applied to many residential and business buildings. It arrived around the same time that "Villa" designed houses where on the increase also. I love the winetr NZ sky and the realy clean crisp colour quality it has.
One of the big facade in CBD, Nelson is about preserved. Whole back-end is demolished and going to transform as the shopping mall. We had few picture posted in other blog and probably post the picture when the transformation is completed. It's all changing but some are preserved as a face of the street.
Beautiful sky for the backdrop of the colorful buildings. I wish I had taken more photos of buildings and the downtown areas of places I have lived over the years. They seem boring because I live there, but years later I'd like to see them again for memories and to compare and see what has changed.
I love old facades and this one seems well maintained. There is good continuity of those lovely blues in the image and the color of the building goes well with them.

This is the first of six Motueka street shots.

ReplyDeleteIt is very interesting to take a photo of buildings. Any town is living thing and there are so match changes in years of time.
