Cheers, John. I took this in the very early morning slightly later from the sunrise shot I posted yesterday. I think it is a rock with small mussels attached to the bottom. It is not so large rock through, just next to the jetty and the shadow of the jetty on the surface. (I took this with 50mm lens = 75mm in 35mm equiv) so you can figure how close it is.
Tena koe ehoa For me Ben as a photographer I'd have to think laterally about what it is that I'm trying to visually convey with an image such as this. Is the visual engagement about colour, texture, form, light and shadow etc. There's a preception in my visual consciousness where I look at your image and see and think erosion. I think your image has great potential for an abstract image in that there are areas that could zoomed in on and cropped to produce some visually interesting abstracts that concern the effects of light and shadow, texture and contours of this surface.
It's a monitor calibration, Meg. Now I have a reason to get new gadget!?
Cheers, Ndiginiz. That is a nice comment, thank you so much. I see the potential of abstract once you mentioned. I tried to boost up contrast to exaggerate some of the aspect but revert back to natural landscape type of shot on this one. The interesting point is that this material (any photo) can be turned into different outcome.
Wow, Ben! This one really stands out from your usual shots due to its diagonal thrust making it quite dynamic compared to your restful, peaceful more static shots. It catches the eye not only because of that but also the lovely warm morning light. The shadows of the jetty add a dimension of meaning and another aspect of interest. Great to see a different expression from you.
This is actually a kind of a spontaneous shot. I was shooting sunrise (posted earlier) at this jetty. I had taken many shots, so I satisfied and packed the gear and turn back. Well, what I saw was this amazing warm colour and shadow of jetty (and me). I took few more shot before return to the accommodation just behind. Another reason that we have to always carry/ready the camera, I guess. It turns out different from my usual as you pointed out and also as you mentioned I like it because of of a difference from my usual shots. I'm not sure how often I can do such a spontaneous shot/difference but that is part of fun/interest in photography.
Enlarged, the layers in the rock look very interesting. I thought it was just a dirt shore at first, but enlarged, it looks to be layered rock.
ReplyDeleteWonderful evening (or morning) colors too.
Cheers, John.

I haven't been here in too long. Such nice photos waiting. The colors in this rock, and textures, are such a nice "screen" for the shadow. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how different the photo looks on different display units, Ben.
